Scroll or pinch to zoom, drag to pan, click a county to fly to it, or press + and − with the map focused. Dots hold their size on screen as you zoom, so clustered communities pull apart instead of staying stacked. Names appear past 2.5×. Click any dot for the full record.

Communities
On the dots. 993 of the 1083 communities geocode to a street address. The remaining 90 sit on newer streets the Census address file does not carry; those are placed at the centre of their own city (69) or county (21) and are drawn with a hollow ring rather than a solid fill. Bed counts, names, licence class and administrators are exact in every case — only the pin position is approximate. On the licence classes. North Carolina issues one assisted living licence per community and certifies part of its capacity for Alzheimer's care. That alzheimer-licensed beds is a subset of the community's licensed capacity, so a community with 80 beds of which 30 are Alzheimer-certified has 80 beds, not 110. Dots are sized by total licensed capacity, and the memory-care figure is shown inside each record.
